Sets Us Apart Digital Fundraising Campaign
Fundraising can be tricky – especially if you are new to soliciting someone for a gift to your organization. Rarely will one “ask” net you the gift. The going rate for number of times a person needs to be asked to make their Annual Fund gift in a year is seven. I’m not sure where that number comes from, but I’ve heard it over and over in fundraising circles. Being able to create dynamic, compelling messaging is important if you’re going to be soliciting an individual up to seven times in a year!
Each year at Choate Rosemary Hall, we create a print campaign to solicit non-leadership Annual Fund gifts. This campaign normally consists of 3-4 printed pieces. We then follow those print pieces with a digital campaign that matches the theme of the printed solicit.
The print campaign, What Sets Us Apart, was designed by Donna Archambault of The Archambault Group, LLC in Cromwell, CT. I modified the design of the printed solicitations to create gifs that would further tell the story of how Choate donors set the school apart from its peers. Since the average American receives over 100 emails a day, and we have mere seconds to catch the donor’s attention, gifs are a great way to bring dynamic content quickly to the viewer.

For this campaign, I was also able to brand the giving page on our website to match the style of the solicit, creating a full circle of branding from receiving a printed solicitation in the mail, to receiving an email that tells a similar story with dynamic imagery, to a giving page that drives home the messaging.
